Alimta (pemetrexed disodium)

Alimta is a recent drug that shows great promise as both a single and combined agent.

Trials suggest that as a combined agent with cisplatin (plus folic acid and vitamin B-12 to reduce side effects) mesothelioma patients could see survivial terms extended by up to thirty per cent.

A definite improvement in symptoms was experienced by those following the combined therapy with reduced pain and less shortness of breath.
